Pleased
"Classic little Italian wine bar and restaurant in the theater district, conveniently located directly across from the Ambassador Theatre. We went here before seeing Chicago and was so pleased with our experience that we returned after the show for drinks."
PERFECT
"Wonderful October 3,2008 I met my girl friend in the City (she was there on buisiness). I had plans to ask her to marry me but ONLY if the situation was PERFECT. We were strolling around looking for a place to have dinner. We were met outside and told that everything was made fresh and the only place to get more authentic Italian food was Italy but the Chocolate Pasta got us in the door. Inside the ambiance was wonderful. Piano playing softly in the back round, a great glass of wine and a free taste of the Chocolate Pasta which was incredible. All the food was fresh, delicious and had a beautiful presentation. I got down on one knee and proposed, she said yes. We will be married this September. "
Great Ambiance
"great ambiance, awesome food we were brought here by a local. wonderful atmosphere, delicious food. we had a white fish (not on the menu, you have to ask for it) that was to die for. superb. we were seated right next to the piano and greatly enjoyed the live accompaniment. very romantic. the ladies bathroom was covered in rose petals. cool. thanks for a memorable dining experience. What makes New York unique is it's history, tradition, culture, architecture, and people. There's the diversity of character of the people- that's the spirit of New York. I like places that represent what New York has been for decades and hasn't been rolled over and turned into another ubiquitous death by trendy restaurant. When I first came to New York, I went to a small and intimate place called Trax where late at night you could hear a fantastic jam session. The music was spontaneous. Joni Mitchell and James Taylor jammed there. They came out and played and nobody knew what was going to happen. Anyone could shop up, whether it was a scheduled band or artist, or somebody who was in town doing a big show and just wanted to relax and jam in a loose and unpressured environment. I love a place where serious music lovers can pop in to relax, hear new stuff and great music.
One of my favorite restaurants is Da Marino, right in the heart of the theater district and very much old New York. It's a neighborhood of friends and artists who come in to taste Pasquale Marino's southern Italian food. His mussels are incredible. Or sometimes he'll say, I'm inspired, let me just make this dish for you." Pasquale is from Calabria, very spirited and truly the captain of his ship. Yet, sometime someone will get on the guitar and just start singing.
Pleasently Surprised
"My wife and I were on our way to Caroline's Comedy club to celebrate our 6th anniversary when were approached by an employee in front who successfully persuaded us to come in and sample their famous fettuccine along with 2 complimentary glasses of wine. The food was fantastic and service was excellent! We were pleasantly surprised and prices were affordable. We mentioned to the waiter we had a show to catch so she was sure to have our food out on time ... 5 stars from us. Definitely recommended! "
